On the front-lines, Nick has always been a fighter.
Nick is working to put the people of Staten Island first.
I’m Nick. Nice to meet you.
I was never interested in politics. I am not a lawyer, I am not a staffer and I have never taken a political science course in my life. I am young with a vision for Staten Island that I know I can help execute.
I am not running for State Assembly because I want to get rich off New Yorkers or to start my ascent into higher office. I started paying attention to politics at the beginning of the 2016 United States Presidential Election. When all of these issues are being thrown around on social media & the news everyday, you start to wonder how your local representatives think and how it aligns with your beliefs.
I realized Assemblyman Michael Cusick (D-Mid Island) has a record of doing wrong for the people of this district. Whether it be taking money from pharmaceutical organizations like Pfizer (which means your life saving medications will always be expensive) , not speaking up when a fellow Democrat used $103,000 of tax-payer money to silence a sexual assault accuser (silence is complicity), or voting in ways that will raise your taxes, Mike Cusick does not always have your back.
I am just as frustrated with politics as you are. I am tired of hearing the same old empty promises and lack of ideas or substance. Look at it this way. Politics is just the race to get elected. With all of the money and constant campaigning, real work loses priority. Politics and representation should never cross paths, but at our expense, they have become one. Although I know what I am doing in terms of playing the political game, I will never let it impact how I represent you. Whats the point of electing (or re-electing) someone who is just going to play nice to get things done but has nothing to show for it? In times like these, it’s important that the district comes first. With your vote, we can fight to lower your taxes and regulatory burdens. Let’s make it easier for small businesses to start and grow, instead of giving billions of dollars in handouts to mega corporations. Let’s give students the choice to determine what career and education future suits them, not the government. More individual freedoms leads to a better city, state and country.
I look forward to meeting you all during the campaign and continuing my work for our Staten Island family.
Nicholas Robbins currently serves as the Secretary and Chief of Staff to the President of the Todt Hill Houses Residents Association. He also is a co-founder of the Protect Our Kids: Staten Island movement and is in the process of forming it into a non-profit organization that specializes in youth incident prevention through community outreach. In addition, Nick proudly represents the 71st Election District of the 63rd Assembly District in the Richmond County Republican Committee. This makes Nick the second youngest elected official in Staten Island, and among the youngest in the State. If elected to the Assembly, Nick would be the youngest legislator in New York State history.
Youth empowerment and involvement is crucial in running a government that works for everyone.
Being raised by a single mother, I know no fight is easy. Anything that is, is not worth doing. This campaign is an uphill battle for the morals of our state. I can't do this alone. With Staten Islands support and guidance, anything is possible.
